Despite a lapse in blog posts in the last half of 2011, 2012 is off to a great start with some new blood in the creative space. A hearty welcome to our latest interns and blog writers:
Blake Wilton went to Cornish College of the Arts located in Seattle, Wa where he graduated in 2010, receiving his BFA in Graphic Design with a focus on Motion Design. Originally from Seattle, he moved to DC from New York after spending a summer interning with the incredibly cool GPS based augmented reality app Goldrun. His favorite things are drawing dinosaurs, listening to Led Zeppelin, nerding out about film, and reading about design and typography.
Andrea Zegarra is a recent grad from the Ringling College of Art & Design (not a clown school… ART school) majoring in Graphic & Interactive Communication and minoring in Business of Art & Design. After interning in various cities (New York, Kansas City) she decided to come back home to DC. Other interests/obsessions include fashion, thrift stores, non-radio music, design blogs and tumblr.
Welcome!
-Will
Not to worry everyone, the days of not remembering the login URL and my password for Nonbillable are FAR behind us! Came across this amazing video of the Japanese artist Riusuke Fukahori using acrylic paint and layers of resin to create incredibly life-like 3D renderings of goldfish. Your mind will be blown in 5… 4… 1!!!
i have to say that when put in this context, i’m a huge fan of this song. Sean Lennon singing Madonna’s Material Girl with protesters. Nice!!
sent in by FHer David Mackay, we see a setup that’ll make you laugh out loud. What do you get for being so brave? A bottle of Carlsberg. Great Ad.
Twinklebox from Aaron Bradbury on Vimeo.
How lovely is that? The first chapter of The Music Box Chronicles by Aaron Bradbury, this video is “a glimpse into the timeless life of Twinklebox, a music box caught in an infinite world, set to his own melody.”
Lovely, indeed.
We’ve been trying to do our take on a combination whiteboard illustration / animation video for quite some time, but have run into frustrating cancellations or budget issues for the past year (who hasn’t, right?). Well, we’re finally there, and into our second shoot day. From this footage, we’ll take the illustrations and our 50 plus shots of them being created on a custom-built wall, and will integrate motion graphics to make something that we hope is original, engaging and educational. The shoot’s themes all relate to alternative energy, so it’s for a great cause / industry as well. I hope you enjoy this slap-dash time-lapse of the beginnings of the shoot yesterday, with music courtesy of my favorite band. -Michael (Accompanied by the excellent Will M. and Lydia)
