About .us

This blog is a compilation of thoughts from individuals that, by day, work together at a Creative Studio in downtown DC. We have been compared to the likes of an American sitcom that aired from 1977 to 1984 on a major cable network. It is a remake of the British sitcom Man About the House.

The story revolves around three roommates, Creative, Development, and Marketing/Strategy who share Apartment 201 in a Santa Monica, California apartment building owned by Mr. and Mrs. Public Relations (later owned by Bart Furley but managed by his brother, Ralph Furley).

The Creative Studio, a comedy of errors, chronicles the escapades and hijinks of the trio’s constant misunderstandings, social lives, and struggle to keep up with rent.

Allen Hopper is an Art Director at the Creative Studio. He loves many things—some of which are edible (Sashimi, Bananas, Stardust) and some that are not (Kittens, Photoshop, Carl Sagan).  He does most of this thinking on this bike‚ which is probably where you will find him if he’s not at his desk. He may also be your mom.

Allison Casey is a print/interactive/whateverelseneedstobedesigned designer on the team. She prides herself on knowing useless trivia and having an “I’ll try anything once” attitude. Her hobbies including: watching way too much television, asking questions, and traveling.

Andrew McClellan promises to eventually figure out what he wants to write here…so he says.

Bryan Whitson is a Photographer and a Production Manager at the Creative Studio. When not taking pictures, thinking about photography or obsessing about cameras he doesn’t need and can’t afford, he can be found riding his bike or eating Cuban sammies. He also has a photo blog called F3M3 Photo.

Katie O’Brien is a designer who thinks she can write. When she isn’t trying to impress the pants off her clients as a Creative Director during the week, she is coming up with ideas for fun events to host, designing personalized invites, blogging and trying to jam way too much in her already packed life.

Though Katie has left the DC Creative Studio for the West Coast, she will always be a part of the Creative Studio family and plans on being nonbillable at times. At least until she becomes too good for us.

Lydia Sullivan is the team’s indigenous Preditor (that’s Producer/Editor). If you approach quietly, you may observe her attacking new video projects or out on the hunt for geeky museum exhibits, the elusive local/seasonal/organic/vegetarian meal and a perfect 8 hours of sleep.

Marc Dionne directs the team’s creative communication endeavors across visual and experiential mediums. As a visual communicator, his passion begins at the potent intersection of message and audience. He thrives off bringing messages to life.

Michael Adolph juggles. A lot. Of balls and other things. He’s had 23 jobs since he was 15 and figures that all these experiences will someday force him into writing full-time. Until then, he’s happy writing scripts, directing and producing videos, shooting photography, and riding his bike.

Peter Quinn is an interdisciplinary Artist and Creative Director whose work spans across mediums. In lieu of having to often categorize and separate creative work into client-based and non client-based activities, his posts are dedicated to infrequent musings on strategic uses of any activity, regardless of need, but reinforcing the idea that Design is about strategic facilitation vs. a mere aesthetic approach.

Rachelle Lacroix isn’t technically a creative but she is in her daydreams (She also co-leads a successful alt-country group, but she writes about that on another blog). Though her working life focuses on the strategic digital communications, she appreciates a life unplugged full of music, food, drink, traveling and pretty things.

Steven Kostant = creative + strategy. Steven is comfortable thinking from both sides of his brain. He leads the creative studio and finds great pleasure in pushing storytelling and emotional delight into brands, designs, films and digital media. He is creative adventurer who believes if you are not on the edge then you are taking too much room.

Vicky Chao is a video magician in the Creative Studio. She dabbles in graphic design, illustration and photography, but is primarily interested in video production. When she’s not busy navigating the hard streets of Northern Virginia in her ‘85 Toyota Corolla, she is usually watching television on the internet and trying to be Tina Fey.
